Katy Perry ‘Freshening Up’ Unreleased Songs

She may still be releasing tracks off Teenage Dream thanks to her latest single, ”The One That Got Away,” but Katy Perry is already hard at work on some other super-special, top-secret musical project.
Producer Tricky Stewart, who worked with Perry on threeTeenage Dream songs, is back at work with the California Gurl herself, prepping some music with the singer. “Katy and I went into [the studio] just to address some issues with records that we had done in the past that didn’t end up going on Teenage Dream,” he told MTV News. “So we are in the process of just listening and freshening up things and getting ready for something special she has going on.”
What is it that she is readying? Well, Stewart doesn’t exactly know, or maybe he just doesn’t want to say. “I don’t know what it is, but I know she has something going on because she wants to be in the studio,” he said. “So that’s good. … I can tell you that Katy likes the studio again; that’s always a good thing.”
While he couldn’t shed much light on the project itself, he did reveal the name of the song. “This song is really special. It’s called ‘Dressing Up,’ so it’s going to be a big record, I think,” he said. “It definitely fits. It’s right there in what her sensibilities are as a musician and a songwriter. She doesn’t change much. She has a very keen musical taste. It’ll be really good.”
The music they are working on is using some leftovers from their Teenage Dream sessions. And they hope to finally put that magic out into the world. “We always knew that the records we created were special [and] at the time it was more contractual obligation [that they didn't make the record],” he explained, noting all the success the singer has experienced with the record, which includes five #1 songs. “I can only have so many songs produced by me on the record. She didn’t need to have extra songs at the same time.”
Ubisoft To Sponsor Katy Perry’s UK Tour

Ubisoft have announced they will be sponsoring Katy Perry’s forthcoming “California Dreams” UK tour, which starts next month, on behalf of their upcoming title Just Dance 3. Concert-goers will enjoy the opportunity to play the game before her performances at each of her UK shows and watch a video of the singer playing the game herself.
As an added bonus, fans who record a video of themselves and their friends dancing to the Just Dance version of Katy Perry’s song “Firework” also have a chance of winning backstage tickets to a concert of their choice, during which they’ll meet the pop idol herself. The contest, called “Just Dance Your Way to Katy Perry”, can be entered through the game’s Facebook page here.
This isn’t the start of Just Dance’s advertising partnership with Katy Perry; she was also sighted playing the game in one of her recent music videos, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)“, which Ubisoft boasts has been viewed on YouTube over seventy-two million times. A dubious quote from Perry herself claims: “I’m a fan of Just Dance 3, and I’m glad it brings people together to dance, just like I get to do on my tour.”
Mark Slaughter, head of marketing at Ubisoft is proud of the partnership, calling it “a landmark sponsorship for Just Dance, [demonstrating] how this game has transcended its platform to become a hugely popular entertainment brand in the UK”. He also emphasised the connection with Katy Perry, with her songs being included in both previous games.
Just Dance 3 is currently scheduled for release on Kinect for Xbox 360, Move for PlayStation 3, and the Wii on October 11th. You can read more about the game on zConnection here. The California Dreams tour begins in Sheffield on October 12th and runs throughout the UK and Ireland until November.
Katy Perry Poll: What’s Your Favorite ‘Teenage Dream’ Single?

With “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” hitting No. 1 on the Hot 100 this week, Katy Perry has notched five chart-toppers from her sophomore album, “Teenage Dream.” The feat makes Perry the first female artist with five No. 1s from a single album and ties the record Michael Jackson set with “Bad” in 1987-88.
“Friday” may be Perry’s latest hit single and the one to push her into the history books, but is it the best single off “Teenage Dream”? So far, “California Gurls” has had the longest run at the top of the Hot 100, notching six weeks at the perch beginning in June 2010. The bubblegum pop track featured a laid-back Snoop Dogg verse and was highlighted by a Candyland-themed music video.
“Teenage Dream’s” title track, an emotional ode to tender teenage romance, soon followed and topped the Hot 100 for two weeks. The music video dialed down “California Gurl’s” candy-coated wonder and showed Perry making out with a guy who was decidedly not named Russell Brand.
“Firework” brought Perry’s pop reign into the winter, shining atop the Hot 100 for a total of four weeks beginning in December. The Stargate-produced dance track was performed at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, as well as on Oprah Winfrey’s post-Oscars show with the Staten Island PS22 Children’s Choir.
And Perry kept it going this spring with “E.T.,” her otherworldly love song that featured a guest spot from Kanye West. After its five-week stay in the Hot 100 penthouse began in April, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” returns Perry to the top in its 12th week on the chart.
Now it’s your turn to decide: which one of “Teenage Dream’s” five smash singles will best stand the test of time? Cast your vote in our poll below, and check out a full breakdown of Katy Perry’s chart accomplishments.

US Box Office Weekend Report: ‘Cowboys’ Out-Draws ‘Smurfs’ in Near Photo Finish
|autor: | August 1st, 2011 | add comment | News ,Others ,The Smurfs
Studio estimates of $36.2 million apiece had Cowboys & Aliens and The Smurfs in a photo finish for the weekend top spot, but Cowboys came out ahead, $36.4 million to $35.6 million, when final numbers were tabulated. Captain America: The First Avenger retreated to third, the final Harry Potter hit another milestone, and Crazy, Stupid, Love. rounded out the Top Five in its debut.
Smurfs led on Friday with $13.26 million versus Cowboys’ $13.09 million, but Cowboys pulled ahead on Saturday, $13.18 million to $12.61 million, and on Sunday, $10.16 million to $9.74 million. Cowboys’ distributor Universal Pictures had underestimated each day, while Smurfs’ distributor Sony Pictures had overestimated each day. For what it’s worth, on Sunday, Universal reported its Cowboys estimate before Sony issued its Smurfs estimate, but, on Monday, Sony reported its Smurfs $35.6 million actual before Universal issued its $36.4 milion actual. Furthermore, pre-weekend tracking had indicated that the gap between Cowboys and Smurfs would be much greater than it was, and Smurfs is still likely to gross more in the long run, given the historical patterns of each movie’s genre.

X Factor 2011: Katy Perry could be joining the judging panel, according to new betting odds
Katy Perry has emerged as the nation’s first choice to join The X Factor.
Following reports Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell are quitting The X Factor to focus on the Stateside-version, Katy Perry has been named as the front-runner to join the judging panel.
The Firework songstress – who appeared as a guest judge on the show last year – is 7/2 favourite, with Take That’s Gary Barlow in joint second place with Sharon Osbourne at 4/1.
Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger is also in the running according to William Hill’s latest odds, sitting alongside Robbie Williams at 8/1.
Interestingly, the least likely person to take a seat on The X Factor is Eminem, who currently has odds of 66/1.
Joe Crilly, a spokesman for William Hill, said: “Katy Perry was very well liked when she appeared on last year’s show and the odds suggest that she is in pole position to either take over from a departing judge or become a fifth judge on the show.”
