Concert review by Billboard’s Jon Blistein.
Katy Perry brought her massive, cavity-inducing California Dreams Tour to a sold-out crowd at New York’s Madison Square Garden last night (Nov. 16). Despite it being the tour’s 118th show, Perry and her crew kept fans — and their often equally excited parents — on a sugar high for two hours. “Who cares if it’s a school night?” Perry asked to chorus of screams.
The show unfolded in between videos of Perry traversing the same Candy Land-like world of the “California Gurls” video. After escaping the clutches of the evil butcher, she goes in search of her cat, Kitty Purry, and the loving arms of the Bakery Boy. On stage, that same world was brought to life with forests of candy canes and lollipops, and topped off with a cotton candy cloud that flew Perry above the crowd for an unplugged rendition of “Thinking Of You.”
The entire extravaganza included approximately fourteen costume changes (five alone during “Hot N Cold”), two dancers dressed as mimes, numerous jokes that went over the heads of many audience members (a dancer dressed as a slot machine but referred to as a “slut machine”; a pot brownie given to her by the aforementioned mimes), and one shirtless redhead brought on stage to be semi-groped by Perry herself, kissing him, then scaring him off-stage after discovering her husband was there to surprise her. (Mr. Russell Brand, unfortunately, did not make a cameo.)

Katy is excited to announce a show in Jakarta on 19 January 2012 at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC).
“We have allocated 9,000 seats for the “California Dreams” concert in Jakarta. We expect the tickets to be on sale for the public around the fourth week of this month, with prices starting from Rp 650,000 only. The excitement for the concert has increased greatly since Katy Perry’s win for Best Live award from MTV European Music Awards last week over music heavyweights such as Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Foo Fighters. This award proves that Katy Perry’s “California Dreams” concert, which we will be seeing in Jakarta, is one of the best produced concert shows in the world today. This will be definitely a special experience as we get to see Katy live singing packaged in amazing visuals, massive stage, and great production. We can’t wait to bring her down here and share her with all the KatyCats in Indonesia,” said Yudha Perdana, Brand Manager of Ismaya Live.
Main promoters of the Katy Perry California Dream Girls Jakarta concert are IsmayaLIVE with FM Live and SoundRythm. They are also supported by Mahkota Promotion.

|Concert review: Katy Perry brought the California Dreams Tour back to Manchester|

The California Dreams Tour rolls back into Manchester for another incredible evening.
Katy Perry brought the California Dreams Tour back to Manchester last night in what was a truly triumphant return.
It was a concert that, like Alice Cooper’s recent Halloween Night of Fear show, focused heavily on theatrics and big production to create a very special evening for her fans.
The tour was led by a loose narrative, helped along by some admittedly funny videos to move it along.
For a few hours last night, the stage of the MEN Arena was transformed into Candyfornia, complete with candy-cane banisters, candyfloss clouds and so much more.
There was a lot to take in, the whole stage featuring some kind of sweet or cake, as Perry clearly took influence from Alice In Wonderland to create her “dream world”.
The show had it all – costume changes, brilliant dancers, mimes, a kidnapping at the hands of the Joker, a live band, and all the hits.
It would be easy to only talk about how visually exciting the production of the show was, but that would be to discredit not only Perry’s catalogue of hits, but also her undeniable charisma.
She had the entire MEN Arena in the palm of her hand, as the costume changes saw her move from sophisticated to sexy from song to song.
Perry has a knack of making the most extravagant of stage shows shuffle towards intimacy, particularly on a moving trio of performances, featuring ‘It’s Not Like The Movies’, ‘The One That Got Away’ and ‘Thinking of You’.
The three tracks worked together beautifully to create an emotional passage in the show, as Perry showed she has a soaring, crispy voice in the live environment, even when the production is stripped down.
It was an admirable performance, ‘Thinking of You’ seeing the singer perform at the far end of the arena on a pink cloud, giving the fans further away a chance to be close to their idol.
The crowd more than played their part, singing along to every song, from opener ‘Teenage Dream’ to the glorious climax of ‘California Gurls’.
They were helped along by the occasional intimacy of the evening – Perry was joined by around 15 constume-clad fans towards the end of the show, even taking a picture on-stage with one girl.
Humorous and clearly talented, this was an artist excelling in a stage show that, whilst following a narrative and succeeding as a piece of musical theatre, will be tough to rival in the live music scene.
She’s best known for hits like ‘I Kissed A Girl’, the innuendo-filled ‘Peacock’ and ‘Hot n Cold’, but Perry showed that there’s more to her than the hits.
The fans reacted just as well to ‘E.T.’, ‘Waking Up In Vegas’ and ‘Ur So Gay’, and the atmosphere lifted the show from fantastic to spectacular.
Any pop superstar will have their critics from “serious” music fans, but a show of this caliber, from an artist that seems to thoroughly enjoy (and be humbled by) the opportunities she has, should not be disregarded.

|‘California Dreams’ tour in Grand Rapids cancelled!|

Katy Perry won’t be coming to Grand Rapids after all. Fans in Grand Rapids, Mich., have seen their California Dreams squashed once again.
Perry’s “California Dreams” world tour was originally scheduled to play Grand Rapids’ Van Andel Arena Sept. 11 but illness postponed the show until Dec. 1. This week word emerged that the rescheduled date had been canceled, and neither city nor singer would get a second chance. At least not during the current tour.
This time Live Nation cited “unforeseen production and scheduling conflicts” for the cancellation, according to The Grand Rapids Press. Of course, refunds are available at points of purchase and folks who bought their tickets online will get automatic refunds. However, there’s no cure for all those broken hearts in western Michigan. Such is life.

Review by BirminghamMail.net:
KATY Perry filled a Birmingham arena for the second time in six months last night with a spectacular hit-filled show that had her fans screaming for more.
An impressive candy-themed backdrop was straight off the Willy Wonka set as she worked through her hit-filled Teenage Dream album.
She appeared in front huge lollipops and an entourage of scantily-clad backing dancers and combined her hits with a film, bubbles and even indoor fireworks.
The young crowd waited patiently for Perry’s arrival and were entertained by dancers who fired free T-shirts from huge candy cane-shaped cannons.
There were deafening screams from a sea of wig-wearing teenagers when she did explode onto the stage.
She said: “We love you so much Birmingham that we came back to see you again.
‘‘I know that people in Birmingham are wild. Are you ready to party?”
There was a huge procession of colourful and ever-more revealing outfits as the show progressed through E.T., Waking Up In Vegas and I Kissed A Girl.
This was a proper production that was lapped up by every member of the crowd.
The happiest of all was besotted 22-year-old Steve from Walsall, who whipped off his shirt and raced up to get a kiss from the pop princess.
The impressive show ended on a high with the pop rush of Firework and summer anthem California Gurls.
